Teaching for Transformation

Teaching for Transformation

A new article in counterpunch about what teachers can do to bring about systemic change. I view public education as the frontline in the struggle for a better world. Creating a people-powered movement begins in the classroom. Anyone interested in building that movement, in being a real public intellectual, in transcending the dominant paradigm, should join us!

  1. Admired your recent articles in CounterPunch; education as humanization and individuation. I’ve shifted from teaching social sciences to “humanism” in literature and art. As to the latter–promoting radical empathy, as you term it: say Dostoevsky’s “The Idiot” (Part I) or Rembrandt’s “Return of the Prodigal Son.”
Cf. my C-P article: “Technocrats or Humanists”; and others (Dissident Voice).
