The Underground Men: Page 8

The Underground Men: Page 8

For some reason this one took longer than usual to complete, though it’s not necessarily more complicated than the other pages. I’ve been experimenting with different tools: the carbon pencil, especially. Mark Schultz (author/artist of Xenozoic Tales) was the one who inspired me on that score. Part of the fun of this story is playing with different techniques, discovering myself as an artist like we all do whenever we’re creating.

But I also think this one took longer than usual to complete because it’s increasingly veering into dark territory, most likely where a part of me feels comfortable avoiding. I learned a long time ago that when you start feeling that way, you need to follow that path at all costs. It’s the way of healing and the way of truth. The same path as art itself.
